What is Prison Family Aid (PFA)?

Prison Family Aid is the community for the loved ones of the incarcerated. Our groups, forums, resources and assistance pages cover all aspects of the prison system.

Most notably, the Prison Family Aid Community is a safe-haven for those who have become involved with the prison system. Above all, it's a place to share experiences, information, joy and frustrations.

Check out our About Us page for detailed info about frequently asked questions and more about Prison Family Aid.

What is the Prison Family Aid Community?

Above all, the Prison Family Aid community is a social networking platform for people with relative or other loved one behind bars. Members can find friends, follow topics, and share stories.

The community also has groups for family members who face the same emotional and practical issues. Forums exist for husbands & wives, partners, friends, pen-pals, children, parents and siblings.

Furthermore, our community provides extensive prison family resources covering every U.S. state. You'll find even more regional groups and forums with many members familiar with particular institutions and practices.

Similarly, there is room for a little fun. Members swap recipes, talk about movies, discuss poetry and find a pen-pal. There is always something new to explore.

People come to Prison Family Aid looking for information and assistance. They stay for friendship and support.

Visit our Community page for more information.

What types of assistance/support can I get?

This is one of our most frequently asked questions. We founded this site after being unable to easily find information about grants, services and other assistance for prison families. The PFA staff works daily to provide members with critical information and access to support, including:

Financial Assistance and Grants

We are aware of federal, state, local and private grants, financial assistance, and public and private welfare programs for struggling prison families. We actively collect the information and tips to be successful when applying for these programs.

Educational Scholarships

Find education programs, scholarships and financial aid options for yourself or your children.

Discounts on Products and Services

Because we represent thousands of prison family members, we have the ability to negotiate discounts and added benefits for housing, food shopping, apparel stores, schools, children's goods, and other essential services.

Other Often Needed Services

Prison wives, spouses, relatives, parents and children share some specific needs, such as:

  • Ride-Sharing
  • Affordable Money Transfers
  • Affordable Calling Cards
  • Petition Writing
  • Much, Much More

Finally, our Community members are the best source when seeking help. We share information about services we're actually able to get with each other.

For more information, check out our Family Services section.

How much does membership cost?

We know that relatives and friends of the incarcerated face big financial challenges, so we charge only a small monthly fee for membership—just enough to keep the lights on. For more details, see our Membership Information, including our option to sign up for a Free Trial.

What if I can't afford a membership or if I don't have a credit card?

No sweattake advantage of one of these three options:
